TERRIBLE TOLL AT SAMOA. VICTIMS TOTAL 8500. a POPULATION LOSS 19.62 PER CENT. [by TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Saturday. The influenza epidemic took a terrible toll of the inhabitants of the Samoan Islands, the figures being given in the report of the Samoan Epidemic Commxsion. The death roll to December 31, 1918, was estimated at 7542. Additional deaths subsequent to December 31 brought the total to probably 8500.
