THE ROUND TABLE.
The terms upon which peace has been Concluded and the measures which have been devised for the preservation of the •world's peace form the subjects' of a series of articles in the Jane number of the Round Table. The review has endeavoured to interpret the spirit of the Peace Conference, the purpose of the treaty and Vie character of the peace into which the wend has been introduced. This programme has been developed in a closelyreasoned examination of the new international harmony, in which the position oi the British kmplre particularly is described with especial care. The first article contains a general exposition of the treaty, which the Round Table regards as the (•ration of ivo forces—" the idealism wiich is seeking to found a a*-w and saner Karope" : md '* the compound if anger and f<»ar" excited bv the war. Other articles discus trie problem of reparation for the •war*!! destruction and the establishment of the League of Nations, the latter including a most interesting analysis of the respective shares which the Great Powers a.nd the lesser States take in the world? government. A eohition for the ftilf-prevalent confusion regarding the military effort of the British Umpire in the war is to be found in an exhaust, compilation of statistics of enJi'tment* and casualties., with the available! records for allied countries. The ncp-.ber includes various other articles upon outstanding features in social and political developments, and the usual authoritative discussion of political procross in 'he British Dominions.
