COLLIER DELAYED.
CARGO DECLARED "BLACK." ACTION BY WATEESIDERS. WANGANUI GAS CRISIS. [BY TELEGRAPH. COERESPONDEKT.] WANGANTJI, Monday. When the collier Inga left Newcastle with coal for Wanganui her crew was made up of non-unionists, and when she arrived here on Saturday with 1200 tons of coal for the local gasworks, she was declared "black." This morning when labour was being selected, the men refused engagement to discharge the coal, on the grounds that the crew are nonunionists.
In consequence of the men's refusal to work the vessel, she is at present lying idle at the gasworks wharf. The present supply of coal at the local gasworks is understood to be sufficient for a couple of days only, as a result of the management having baen instructed by the Coal Com. mittee to send 40Q tons out of the Joan Craig's shipment last week to Palmerston North. This means that the position here is very serious, and unless the Inga's coal is available, or other supplies come to hand, there is apparently ■ every prospect of the gas supply being cut off in two or three days.
