The public made Gang Awa' & good favourite, ana the issue never looked in doubt, for the top weight jumped to the front and led all the way. Munster accompanied him for a mile, but the favourite held him safely. Wild Pilgrim put in a run at the last fence, but the top weight kept him off and won by a, length. Sturdee was a poor third, and Grafton Tot and Munster were next. All started in the Onslow Handicap, of five furlongs. Parisian. Diamond, Madam . Ristori. and Astinome were ail heavily backed, and in a lesser degree were Form Up and Redshire- At the start Madam Ristori and Astinome led, and across the bottom the pair were well in the front. Manawapango made the pace for a mile and ahalf. where Kurapai took charge, but down. the back Lochella ran to him. and the pair kept together to the last fence, where Lochella came away and won easily. Manawapango was ten lengths away, and Gaekwar, who jumped badly, was the only other horse to finish. Torchy fell at the post and rails, and Gwvnne refused at the ricker the second time. The winner was making his first appearance in a steeplechase, and his showing was a good one. _ , Kyoto was the only scratching in the Crotton Handicap, Pretty Bobby going out favourite. Sacramento and Manu led to the half-mile, where the favourite was m the rear of a strung-out field. Tame Fox took second place as they raced into the straight, and he and Sacramento left the field.
