CROWN PRINCE'S CRUELTY.

BRUTALITY, TOWARDS WIFE. The Grand Duchess Anastasia. of Meek-lonbufg-Schwerin, mother of the German -Crown Princess, has just passed through Geneva on her way from the Riviera to Montreux (Switzerland), and has made the following statement to representatives of Swiss newspapers: " I do not knovr if it is true that, as reported, the ex-Crown Prince has applied, to the German courts to annul his marriage with my daughter. They feared the consequences of the scandal, and my daughter sacrificed her own wishes to the interests of her husband. "Bat on one occasion, some time ago, things became so unbearable that my daughter actually fled from her home and almost succeeded; in reaching Switzerland. But orders had been sent from Berlin to intercept her, and she was captured at the German frontier like any common criminal, and taken back to Berlin under arrest- j •** She will be able to lay before the t*«rman courts overwhelming evidence j against her husband. She will bo able to prove maiiy cases of the grossest cruelty against him. His infidelities were numerous, and there are abundant proofs of them. " His brutality was atrocious, and, on more than one occasion ? my daughter was treated with actual violence; she was bruised and her face was disfigured by her husband's blows.'-
