ATTITUDE 01? AUCKLAND MEN. TRANSPORT WORKERS' BOARD. The disrate between the locomotive men and the Minister for Railways with regard to rate of pay and conditions of labour was discussed at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of tho Enginedrivers', Ki.emen's, and Cleaners' Association, on Sunday. The meeting, which was a large one, was presided over by Mr. .7. Denz. It. was exjtected that the result of the conference between tho Minister and tho Executive Council would have been available for consideration, but this was not so. and the meeting considered the old proposals. , The meters were unanimous in a decision. th&':. thev would not work under them. ifo. A. J. Dens' was elected president, !f"r. W. Karris vicepresident, Mr. R. Carroll branch secretary. The formation of an Auckland branch of the New Zealand Transport Workers' Advisory Beard was considered at a meeting of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants on Sunday. The general secretary to the board, Mr. J. Roberts, explained the aims and objects of tho board, and emphasised the necessity of closer unity between the wage workers of New Zealand. A resolution was carried expressing the branch's intention to endeavour to bring about unity on the lines indicated by Mr. Roberts. The question was discussed on Friday evening by- a large meeting, representative of the various transport services, and it iras agreed to form an Auckland branch •of the Advisory Board, subject to ratification by the individual unions and societies concerned. The rafteaymen have accordingly confirmed tfcfi decision of the combined meeting.
