SITTINGS OF THE BOARD.
FORTY CASES CONSIDERED.
The Auckland sittings of tho War Pensions Board wcro resumed yeeterdsy, when th© claims of 40 r.oldieva were investigated. 'In 24 cases pensions were renewed for varying amounts and for varying terms, tho period in most cases being two years. In regard to eight of these renewals the board intimated thai the grant was a final one, but in these cases tho applicants have tho right, if they are subject to any war disability at the end of the term, to apply for a" reinvestigation of their claims. In the remaining 16 cases permanent pensions were granted. Grants to the wives of three soldiers also were renewed and will run concurrently with the husbands' pen--Isions. The board will continue its sittings ! during the week. I The' board sat two days at Whangarei last week) and dealt with applications from 66 soldiers. Renewals of pensions 'for varying terms were granted in 39 cases, and 14 permanent pensions were granted. In four instances it was decided that the allowances should bo terminated at the expiration of the present grant, while in three others it was agreed to reconsider the claims at tho end of tha current terms. Decisions that grants already made shall bo final were reaffirmed in four cases, and two claims were deterred for a further medical report.
