WHITE FROST YESTERDAY.

BAROMETER STILL HIGH.

, Tho fine bright weather which has been experienced at Auckland for some days, shows no. signs of breaking. The barometer is still fairly high. It fell .slightly. on Monday, and then remained; steady. till last night, when it registered 30.20 inches. The temperature on Monday night fell considerably, and yesterday morning there was a vbito frost in many nnrts of Audi-' land and surrounding district. Tim frost wa3 very- pronounced in the western suburbs, 'including Mount Eden, Epsom, Mount Albert, Avondale, Titirungi, Remuera, and Otahuliu. It was some hours before the ground was clear in the portions of these districts that wore not exposed to the warm morning sunshine. A sharp frost also was reported from some of the tihij&s in the Hauraki OulJ.

The following weather forecast was issued hy Mr. Clement L. Wrngge at halfpast seven last evening There is no indication to-night of the approach of tho tropica! depression named Cethon, which is evidently in low altitude off the Three Kings. Therefore we may expoct a continuance of generally fair weather with warm days and cold nights. Winds Ujrht and variable, south-south-west to south' east and east prevailing. Sea moderate but rather rough north from Wliangarei Heads, where easterly winds will be more in evidence-

Snow fell a few miles south of Taumarunui ono day last week, but as the ground was damp it did not settle. Local residents speak of the cold weather us being exceptionally severe this vcar. Tiro heaviest frost ii Christchurch this season .was recorded last Saturday morning. The instruments at the Magnetic Observatory showed a minimum temperature on the grass of 19.6 degrees, or 12.1 degrees of frost.
