The seamen are ignoring the ballot, the result of which will be announced on Thursday, when the enforcement of the coal restrictions will cause' a number of factories to close. The conference meets again on Friday. * &' and N.Z. SYDNEY, Juno 3. A mass meeting of seamen passed a resolution against the ballot. The crews of the Union Company's Wakatipu and Karitane have given 24 hours' notice. It is anticipated that when the Manuka and Moeraki arrive the crews will act similarly. If the strike of seamen lasts another fortnight (lie coal shortage in Melbourne will be so acute that all exemptions granted for consumption will be curtailed.
