TE KUITI FARMERS' UNION.
POLITICAL ACTION DISCUSSED. [BT TEIEOItAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]- ; TE EI7ITI. Tuesday. The annual meeting of the To Kuiti. Branch of 'the New Zealand Farmers' Union.' was presided over by Mr. P. Ircdale. Tho attendance of members was very large. Mr. ! Ircdale was re-elected president, and • chosen as delegate to the sub-Provincial i Executive meetings for the ensuing year. | Mr. J. W. Cochrane was appo.nted secretary, in succession to Mr. Hloomfield; A discussion took place regarding the establishment of a farmers' political party. Mr. Iredalu supported the proposal, but Messrs. H. Rothery, K. A. Gillanders, and A. Julian spoke against it. "If at all possible, - ' said Mr. Julian, '' We should go slow in the matter of polities. It is rather dangerous to instruct a delegate to vote for something we- . "know nothing about.'' : Mr. Rothery was of opinion that if a political party were formed ft branch of ' between 800 and 9CO members would not I have sufficient weight to make its influence < | felt. It would be better for the farmers to support a candidate at the elections, who had their interests at heart. The meeting decided to await the result of the conference recently held in Aucki land, when the matter would be further considered.
