'"' • , .'-.'' Speedwell upheld her reputation by mbng first nrizes in the Richmond and Victoria Clubs., while second prises came her way from the North Shore and Ponsonby Clubs. Windward, another consistent boat, gained the verdict in tie Ponsonby . and .North Shore Clubs, while the Qiieenie had ..to be content 'with » second and -a third. Celox. gained first, second, and third prizes, while the Emily and Maybelle gained each a second and third prize. The 10 and 22-footers, which went 'direct to Islington Bay, .via Brown's island 'buby-, were hot much ahead of the forger :bQats, but the competition was very keen, and the prizes of the various clubs were spread over «x boajs. Valeria obtained two and one second, -while Wayward ana Weaken each gained a first and second,. Marie a first .and third. iMowai 4«o thirds, -arid Doreen one third. ' The three clubs that provided races for the motor-boats, were the.Power Boat Association, ' Ponsonby Cruising Club/an.d" the North Shore Club, and most .of the beats ' came up to the starting Jino. Several were on the line together when' tie last {Jag fell, ; end the Cygnet, which" has received considerable alteration since she appeared on Regatta Day with the Defender, soon forged ahead past the other boats. The conditions were all in favour of the smaller-powered • craft, bft'i the corrected times wore in til clnbs verr close. The well-known .Daisy, tfhich usually has' the task of beiag flagship for these func-' tions, established a first, second, and a third ' place in (the three clubs. Surf was the only j other launch to gain more than ope place, * first . and a third falling. to her portion,! Pastime, the limit beat in the power-boat section, managed to get on the winning list,. with the Drayton second, Cygnet, which was hampered by a large dinghey pa top. ■ did extremely weil under the conditions, and ! was beaten in her club for first place by a ; very small margin. Anzac. which has scored ( well this season, secured a third prize. ' Most of the boats anchored for the night in the bay, and went out to various fishing prounds early on Sunday morning. No large catches were recorded, but several launches had respectable hauls to their credit. . Eawau appears to be the favourite cruising place during Easter, and most of the fleet got away early on Thursday evening. Some made direct to -Hawaii, -while others broke, their journey and went on next morning. The Ponsonby Cruising Club will told a Harbour event on April 26, and the Power Boat ABBCsWtion has decided to race for the Lean and Burt Cups on May 8, The Span Cup was won last year by the Tarua, The Burt Cup is a new one, having been presented by ex-Commodore A Burt Jim. to take the. place of the wellJcnoyfa . Whitney Cup which was won outright if the Ansae laat year.
