KAIKOURA'S men arrive. " ' I CONTINGENT FROM EGYPT, WELCOME AT STATION. The Auckland soldiers who retained from Egypt by the Kaikoura, which arrived at Wellington on Friday, reached Auckland by special train at half-past six o clock yesterday morning. They were met by the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican. and about 800 people were present. The men 'vere conveyed to their homes by membars of the voluntary motor corps, the soldiers, numbering 230, being cleared from the station in about twenty minutes. The Kaikoura's draft include a largo number of men who were serving with the Anzac Mounted division across the Jordan Valley when lie armistice was signed Many of them* subsequently went down with malaria, and were invalided to Egypt and from there to New Zealand. When the Kaikoura left Suez on March 7 there were no 6igns of the unrest which has developed since, excepting that the natives were very impudent. On the voyage to New Zealand the health of all on board greatly improved, including three dangerously ill cases, which are now well on the road to recovery. Calls were made at Colombo and Albany, where the men are reported to have behaved in a most exemplary fashion. SHIPS DUE THIS WEEKTHE MAHENO TO-MORROW. lONIC AND THE BHAMO. Advice has been received by Defence Headquarters that Ithe hospital ship Maheno, which is bringing 398 soldiers, will arrive at seven o'clock to-morrow morning, and, being a clean ship, will berth two or three hours later. No leave w to be given to the Southern quota. The lonic, with 743 men, is due on Wednesday, at noon. The vessel is reported to be a clean ship. The Bhamo, which arrives on Thursday with 818 soldiers, has 15 cases of mumps | aboard.
