TRIANGULAR TEST MATCHES.

RESULTS OF YESTERDAY'S PLAY.

The first of a series of triangular test cricket matches between Lower Waikato. Whangarei, «nd the Suburban Cricket Association were played at the Auckland Domain yesterday. The Lower Waikato representatives met Whangarei, and the Suburban representatives played a Suburban B team. In the formor game Lower Waikato scored a rather easy victory by an innings and BO runs. Tne game between the Suburban Association teams resulted in a draw, the B team, which butted first, scoring 324 runs, while the A team, at the call of time, had lost nisa wickets for 234. LOWER WAIKATO V. WHANGAREI. The Waikato players batted first, Menzies and Allan being the opening batsmen. The former soon got going, but lost his partner when the latter had scored 12. Two other wickets fell in quick succession, then Buckett tecame associated with Menzies, the pair both reaching the century before a separation was effected. Menzies' total of 122 was reached by forceful batting, while Buckett, who scored 100, not out, played a sound game. The innings was declared closed when the Bide had scored 256. Whangarei replied with a total of 64. the only batsman to remain long at the wickets being Ferguson, who notched 23 runs. In the follow on Whangarei did. much better by scoring 142, to which Davis (42) and Ferguson (40) were the chief contributors. Boiling for Lower Waikato: Brook took six wickets for 17 runs, Muir two for 10, and Buckott one for 12.

SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION. The game between the Suburban Association teams was regarded more as a preliminary to the teat matches than as a struggle for supremacy. The B team, batting first with 12 men, scored rapidly, Williams making 121 by good cricket, Calder (56) being the next highest scorer. The A team's total of 234 ' for nine wickets was also rapidly oompiled, Burnside 160), Saunders (44), and Hondy 136) slowing good form. Following are the sooros: — Suburban A Team: Rowe, 20: Calder, 66; Stanley, 31; Williams, 121; Pilkington, 13; Walsh, 0; McCormick, 2; Adams, 21; Carter, 22; Hoare, 0; Matthews, 1; Gussy, not out, 2. Extras, 35. Total, 324.

Suburban B Team: McCormick, 7; Lonergan, 11; Roberts, 10; Hondy, 36; Nicholson, 15; Saunders 44; Burnside, 60; Elliott, 6; Riddle, not out, 6; Thompson, 1. Extras, 38. Total, 234.

The test match to-day will be between Lower Waikato and the Suburban A team, while Whangarei will meet Suburban B. In the evening the visiting players will bo entertained at a social in the Railway Social Hall, Queen Street.

Y.M.C.A. V. THIRD GRADE. The only match to bo played at Eden Park to-day will be the Tlud Grade representatives against the Y.M.C.A. Senior Boys' League. The match was commenced last Saturday, Y.M C.A. compiling 208, to which the representatives replied with one wickot for 14 runs, Play will commence at 10 a.m., and an interesting finish should result. i
