USEFUL CLEANING HINTS.

There is no better mixture for putting a fine polish on glass of all kinds, mirrors as well as windows, then a little calcined magnesia (obtainable from any chemist), mixed into a rather wet paste with some benzine. A rag is employed to rub this over the glass. All the dirty spots disappear as if by magic, and very little rubbing is required. After treatment the glass may be lightly brushed over with a chamois leather or a soft cloth. After a time a certain amount of fading takes place in tho case of all wallpaper, but matters may be greatly improved by a through cleaning. After taking down pictures, etc., go over the whole of the wall with a feather brush, using this very lightly with a fiioking movement. Next securo some sawdust and a flat, dry sponge. Pass the sawdust through a sieve, so that all tiny splinters are removed. Place some of the sawdust on the sponge, and start to rub the paper gently. As soon as the sawdust shows the least sign of being dirty throw it away and use fresh material. Work over the whole of the wall methodically, and when the job is completed the room will have a much brighter appearance. Grease marks can be removed by placing a piece of blotting paper' on tlieni aim then pressing with a hot iron. If. after three or four applications, there is still a mark, make a paste of fuller's earth or pipe-clay and plaster this over the mark. Leave until it is quite dry, which may be in tow or three days, and on removal it will be found that the grease has been I absorbed. ' J
