A case of sickness whioh called for investigation was reported on the steamer Monowai. which arrived at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon from Auckland via way ports. While the vessel was on the run jfrom Wellington the master, Captain Norton, communicated with the district health officer and the port health officer. Dr. C H. Upliam, regarding the case. The position did not call for the vessel [being kept in the stream, and she was : allowed to berth, but no passengers were ' pcirafttcd to come ashore untij full investigations had been made. Dr. Chesson and Dr. Upliam both visiM the steamer, and it was found that the passenger in question, a lady, had been isolated as soon as her sickness had been discovered, and Captain Norton had taken very full precautions. Her temperature had been 105 degrees on Saturday evening, I but she had no abnormal temperature yesI terday when she was examined by Dr. Upham.
