MANLY CLERGYMEN.
EX-SOLDIER CANDIDATES. " Tho Church is in process of inoculation with a powerful virus of manliness," stated a high dignitary of tho Church of England to a London press representative. So great has been the number of applications from army men to become candidates for ordination that the archbishops and bishops havo formed a control committee, under the direction of Canon Hicks, of Bishops' College, Cheehunt, to deal with tho problems arising. Most of Itho men are without means for carrying throjigh their training, and one of the projects of the committee is to raise a fund for the upkeep and training of such ex-service candidates.
It is intended to devolop the scheme of training more on lines of social and psychological study than hitherto, for it is realised that the ex-service man is capable 01 an intimate grasp of modern social problems.
