GIRL OF NINE DROWNED. ACCIDENT NEAR SUMNER. [bt TELEGRAPH.— association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A girl, Marie Evans, aged nine years, was drowned at Taylor's Mistake, near Sumner. She was bathing with two other girls, and all of them were carried out iy a strong backwash. A rescue party raved the others with difficulty, but Marie Evans's body .was not recovered for some time.
