ATTACK ON POLAND.
RUSSO-GERMAN COMPACT. ALLIED INTERVENTION. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Mar. 12 The Geneva correspondent of the New York Times states that the American Secret Service discovered an understanding between the German General Staff and the 801-' sheviks, whereby the Bolsheviks and the Germans were to attack Poland simultaneously, the German purpose being retention of Posen in the German Empire. Germany attacked Poland but was frustrated by the Allies, who com--pelled her to withdraw her forces, on the ground that Poland had been officially recognised as one of the Allies, and that Germany had agreed to terminate hostilities against the whole group.
