BANKRUPT'S NEGLIGENCE.
PROCEEDINGS AUTHORISED. The failure of a bankrupt to appear when summoned a second time to attend a meeting of creditors tilted yesterday in the official assignee being requested to take action against the defaulter, Frederick E. List, of .Woodleigh. The meeting of creditors was fixed for 2.30 p.m., and representatives of Wingate and Co.. Ltd., and Parker-Lamb Timber Company attended. Mr.'W. S. Fisher, official assignee, stated that List had been declared a bankrupt on February 3 by order of the Supreme Court, on the application of Wingate and Co., Ltd. He had been notified m the usual way to furnish a schedule of assets and liabilities and a statement of the cause of his failure, and ■' also to attend a meeting of creditors, but nothing had Ijeen heard from him in 1 , reply. A further notice had been sent to I the bankrupt notifying him of the date fixed for tnis meeting of creditors, and again no reply had been received from . him. ! After a brief discussion the official assignee was . requested to place the matter before the.Crown solicitor with a view to proceedings being taken against the bankj nipt for -contempt of Court.
