Water rates were, reported to be overdue on several properties not occupied by the owners. It was stated that if the landlord would not pay the over rates the council would have to discontinue the tenant's service. The council could not, however, lose on the connections, and 1 it was decided to obtain legal opinion as to whether a tenant is allowed to deduct his water rate from the rent. " The splendid work being done by the council near Triangle Reserve and on tho waterfront," was' acknowledged in a resolution forwarded by the Devonport Traders' Association.The main district electors roll was signed by the Mayor and two councillors. The town clerk reported that no objections bad been, lodged.
