THE COAL COMMISSION.

PERSONNEL ANNOUNCED. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Mar. 2. The Coal Industry Commission, of which Mr. Justice Sankey is chairman, has been appointed. There are 12 members, who include Mr. Arthur Balfour, Mr. Robert Smillie, Mr. Sydney Webb, and Sir Leo Chiozza ' Money.

Mr. W. Brace, Labour member for Glamorgan, protests against the originators of the extreme Labour proposals organising mass meetings in South Wales as a starting point for their campaigns, thereby conveying a false impression of the character of Welsh miners.
