SWIMMING.

AKARANA LADIES' CLUB. SUCCESSFUL YEAR'S WORK. The annual meeting of the Akarana Ladies' Swimming Club was held last evening, Miss L. Fhillipson, presiding. The annual report stated that the ladies' branch of the Akarana Swimming Club had commenced activities with a natation day carnival, on October 1, 1917. and during the season a number of successful functions had been held. Five games of water polo had been played against tho Devonport ladies' team to decide possession of the W. J. Ralph championship challenge shield) and after stirring contests .Akarana had secured the trophy. Three of the club members have been chosen .to represent Auckland at the Dominion championship meeting to bo held at Christchurch next week, Misses P. Hoeft and B. Tuohey in the intermediate division, and Mißs V. Walrond in the schoolgirls' championship. Last season Miss E. Tilsley won the Indies' divine championship, Miss D. Jarman the 100 yds ladies r breast-stroke championship, and Miss V. E. Biddick the lOOyds club supremacy. At the Akarana Club's carnival held last week, Mies L Hocft lowered the ladies' 50yds record for New Zealand, registering 32 5-SS. The report was adopted, as was the bal-ance-sheet, which showed a credit balanco of £7 2s lOd. and assets valued at £] 8s 6d. Office-bearers were elected m follows:— Patron. Mrs. J. H.
