WELLINGTON. Saturday.

'The following; reply to his Christmas message to the New. Zealand troops has been received by the Acting-Prime Minister, who requests that it should be read in the churches on Christmas Day :— " Our hearts are full of thankfulness to God that the year has witnessed the cessation of hostilities, and that the coming year will see us reunited with our loved ones in a world worthy of bravo men who have given their loves to make it better.—(Signed) Godley."

New Zealand's Christmas message to its soldiers was sent out wherever possible to returning men on . troopships, and the following reply has reached Sir James Allen from a troopship passing through the Panama Canal :— "Troops greatly appreciate Christmas message from home. Kindly convey greeting to all whom we hold most dear." The message is signed by Lieu. tenant-CosPue] Colqnhoun, officer commanding the troopship.
