UNLOADING THE DORSET.

NO WORK DONE YESTERDAY. [BT (TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Friday. A heavy southerly swell made- the work of lightening the stranded steamer Dorset impossible this morning, and the lighters returned to the wharf. The Dorset is standing hard and fast on Hope Shoal, near Ward Island, and Captain J. Dawson, harbourmaster at Wellington, who is superintending operations, has expressed the opinion that all the cargo will have to be taken out to lighten the vessel sufficiently to enablo her to be refloated. The j transhipping of cargo from tho Dorset to vessels alongside was started on Wednesday morning, and was continued all night. The day' 6 work ,was deemed satisfactory, considering the -.awkward conditions under which, it had to be; done.
