BOYS CONVICTED OF THEFT.

ONE OF SERIES OF MISDEEDS. The theft of 59 sacks, valued at £2 9s 2d, the property of William G. Hutchinson, was admitted by two boys William T. Russell, aged 16, and Uriah Glover, aged before Mr. J. E. Wilson, 8.M., at the Police Court yesterday. ChiefDetective McMahon said Russell Bold the sacks to a dealer for £1 18s 6d, both the accusod participating in the proceeds. In-quiries-among dealers showed that Russell and Glover had taken part in other similar j transactions, by which they benefited ■ financially to the extent of about £10. Russell had been committed to the Weraroa Training Farm for other offences, but the order was suspended. ' This was his second offence since then. ulover, who is at present undergoing a period of probation, at first denied all knowledge of theft, and it was only when he came into Court that he admitted the truth. On the recommendation of the Rev. F. R. Jeffreys, who said that Glover's conduct had been most unsatisfactory, the magistrate admitted the latter to probation for a further period of three years, on stringent conditions, drawn up by the probation officer, and OR the understanding that he was to be sent to tho country. He was also ordered to make restitution of the money obtained. Russell was ordered to be sent to tho Weraroa Training Farm.
