It is typical of much that ? h happening in the German industrial centres, where communism is gaining ground. Herr Knief, a Radical Socialist member of the peichstag, addressing an open-air demonstration, advocated a class war, and declared that the establishment of a National Assembly would only help the bourgeoisie to regain supremacy. The workers must have their own army, secure prcdomincnce, and disarm the bourgeoisie, Which was collecting the ruins of the old army for the purpose of feting its claims. The majority of the meeting voted against summoning the Assembly, and unanimously approved arming the I Proletariat. fpA subsequent meeting of the Bremen Soldiers' Council was twice interrupted by extremists from the streets, where a huge threatening I crowd assembled. Knief secured order. The council voted by 97 to 56 in favour of a National Assembly, and also rejected the proposal to ©Warm the bourgeoisie and arm the proletariat, by 100 to 19.
