She did not take any ordinary passengers from Auckland. The barque Rn'.hsay Bay, which has been loaded and anchored in the stream for some days, sailed for Melbourne yesterday morning. The Whangape wet shifted from the King's to the Queen's Wharf yesterday morning, and the Kaitanaata, which has been anchored in the stream waiting took the vacant berth at the King's Wharf. The Ar-vhura, Flora. Whang* arid Eakanoa aie still huns up indefinitely owing to the shortage of seamen through so many being ill with influenza. The Union Company's cargo steamer Kauri left Melbourne on Thursday with a cargo of wheat for Auckland. She is due here at the end of the week, Tho Island steamer Taluno was erpeoted to leave Suva for Auckland on Saturday. She iB due here- ta Wednesday. The Richardson steamer Mako is still held up in Napier with six of her crew in the 1 hospital Buffering from influenza. Her ■ future movements are indefinite. The | • : Aw&hou is due at Gisborne on Wednesday , and is not expected at Auokiand before next week. The barquentine Alexa and the American brigantine Jeanette. which have been anchored in the stream awaiting berths, will, be berthed at the King's Wharf this morning to discharge their cargoes of case oil from San Francisco. The Poherua and R«.julus are still laid up *t Onehunga, owing to the depletion of their crews. If a full crew can be obtained the Regulus will sail to-day for Wellington and West Coast porta. It is reported that the Union Company has chartered the schooner II K. Hall (1237 tons), which earlier in the yetr was detained in Sydney for several week* owing to the hitch which occurred in connection with the transport of *heat to the United States. The email American schooner Lily and the four-masted American schooner Philippine left Wellington on Thursday to load copra for San Francisco. Syren and Shipping reports tha.t arrangements have been made by the Cunard Company to take over the general passenger agency of the Japanese steamship company, Toyo Kisen Kaisna, whose large and modern passenger steamers trade serosa the Pacific between San Francisco, Japan, and China, calling en rente at Honolulu. This is only one direction in which the Cunard Company is perfecting its preparations for the extension of its business when things revert to the normal. The passenger agency of the Toyo Kiwn Kai«ha points to a very material strengthening of. the Cunard Company's American connections, a department of its enterprise which but for the war would doubtless have shown some remarkable developments. RM.S. MAKURA. The Royal Mail steamer Makura left Vancouver for Auckland via way ports on November 8, and is due here on November 26. R.ILS. NIAGARA. The Royal Mail steamer Niagara sailed for Vancouver on Saturday evening. Owing to the epidemio and other reasons the vessel was delayed longer at Auckland than was expected when she arrived from Sydney. A largo quantity of cargo was shut out of the vesssl owing to there being no labour avail, able on the day of the armistice, and also through the waterside workers stopping work at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
