The barque Antiope is to go into dock for cleaning ant painting after she has discharged her cargo of esse oil. Loading operations on the scow Kathkit have beer, delayed for three days owing to art accident to hot main rigging. She will resume taking in cargo to-<Uy, and is expected to sail for Australia at the beginning of next week. The Island steamer Flora shifted fiom the Queen's to the Hobson Wharf yesterday to load her cargo for the Eastern Pacific. Her departure has been postponed until tomorrow. The Huddart Parker steamer Sivorina. which arrived from Sydney on Monday night, and anchored in the stream berthed at tho Queen's Wharf yesterday morning to land her passengers and cargo. Owing to the amount of cargo to be bandied her departure for Sydney has been postponed until 6 p.m. to-morrow. The Manaia did not arrive from Whangsrri until after 10 o'clock last night. She was delayed at Whangaroi loading cargo. The departure of tho Royal mail steamer Niagara for Vancouver haa been postponed until noon to-morrow. Tho closing of mails rho is to carry has been postponed accordingly. - ! It is officially stated that 1 at dusk on Tuesday, November 5, an overseas steamer paaeeti a floating mine about twenty miles off the coast, somewhere between Farewell Spit lighthouse and Cape Farewell. Until recently there were hopes that it would be possible to refloat the Lusitania, ivhich for two years has lain under 800 ft of water, about twenty miles from the Old Head of Kinaale. A London paper of September 8 says salvage experts nave come to the conclusion that, even if successful, the effort would not be worth the cost, ana the proposal has been abandoned. Erpossd for such a long time to the Atlantic swell, it is probable that the vessel's back is broken by now; but, 60 far, no diver has gono down to ; investigate, nor is such a survey thought likely. It is possible, however, that an attempt may yet be made to recover the specie which is known to be locked in the purser's cabin, on the upper deck. Captain Christopher Heary Welch, who celebrated hia 89th oirthday at Port Chalmers en Tuesday last, had a remarkable seafaring career before he arrived in the colonies in 1860 as master, of hia own ship, the Elizabeth C.
