AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.'PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PAIMERSTON NORTH, Thursday. Th 9 Governor-General and the Countess of Liverpool and the Hon. G. W, .Russell were present on People's Day at the Manawatu Show. The weather was fine but cold. Hassall's Micky Free won the heavy-weight hack competition, Short's Scout the 12st to 14st hacks, and Hassall's Captain Glossop the light-weights. Booth's Lonely Scout beat Micky Free in the -weight hunter class. Haseall's Captain Glossop won the ladies' hack competition, beating Lonely, which was the best troop-horse champion hack of the show. Miss C. Maher, on Hawaii's Captain Glossop, was the best lady rider, Miss M. Briggs (Morrinsville) being second, and Miss C. Bryce (Hinau) third. In the champion open hunter class, H. Hassell's Micky Free was first. J. Brice's Hailstorm second. J. McDowell's Papa.tere won the leaping competition.
