TWO MACHINE-GUNS TAKEN, CLEARING OUT A SAP. A. and N.Z -Keuter. LONDON, Oct 30. The Victoria Cross has been awarded to Sergeant R. S. Judson, o: the Auck* land Infantry. He led a snull bombing paHy under heavy fire, captured (i machine-gun, and proceeded along a sap alone, bombing three machine-gun crews. He ordered a party of two officers and 10 men to surrender. They nred, whereupon he threw bomb. l - at them, jumped down among them, killed two, put tho rest to flight, and captured two machineguns, thus saving many lives and enabling our advance to continue unopposed. Fifteen New Zealanders have been awarded Distinguished Conduct Medals.
