NORTHERN COAL COMPANY.

SHAREHOLDERS' ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of shareholders in the Northern Coal Company was held yesterday, the Bon. E. W. Alison presiding over a good attendance. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, details of which were published in yesterday's Herald, the chairman expressed satisfaction that the company was once more restored to n sound financial position. There hod been a keen demand for coal during the' year, the company's output being 50,000 tons.' The working of the mines vraa being carriod ' on under considerable difficulty, owing to the shortage of experienced men, and of, vessels to shin the coal, but matters had I lately improved, and it was hoped that the output would shortly be increased, as the , demand for coal was likely to continue, to , be heavy The report and balance-sheet) wore adopted. MANAWATO STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports:— At Feilding on fndSy we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which sold at-late rates. Small hoggets, 17s to 17s 3d; ewe hoggets. 27s 6dt 18-month heifers, £5 lOai store cows, £7 8s i light fat cows, «* 10s to £11 16s; yearling ,8 H. bulls, £8 10s to £8 10a: 2-year Jersey bull, £9 Bs; 2-year Holstera bull, £8 6*.

Abraham and Williams, Limited, report: — At Palmerston North on Thursday, we had a small yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle- Practically every lot was sold under'the Tiammer.
