; a ——•* • The bi-monthly meeting of the Auckland District Committee was held in the Mount Eden Congregational Schoolroom on Tuesday evening. Mr. S. W. Smeeton was elected acting-chairaan for the remainder of the year, the Rev. C. L. Carr having resigned owing to his removal to Maungatwoto. The Bev 1 / H. J. Ralph was appointed to the chirgo of the Suburban Mission for a farther term of 12 months. As a "suit of a generous donation by Mr. J. Jf. fi 7 en ' a scheme was suggested for the immediate liquidation of the Western Springs Building Fund. A suggestion that, arrangements should be made for a visitation to the churches by the union chairman and secre- • tary was approved. The committee unaniniotlsly nominated the Rev. Harry Johnson as chairman of the union for 1920. An appeal for support and interest was made on behalf of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society. The reference committee, with the addition of the Revs. F. Warner, H. Johnson, £~ A. Bridger and H. C. George, was empowered to arrange for tho union meetings in March next, a
