OLD COLONIST'S DEATH.
.AIR. EDWARD McKEOWN
Ost; of the oldest business men in Aud. land, Mr. Edwaid McKeown, died en Tuesday at the age of 72. He was born in Chatham Barracks in 1816, his father being a member of the 65th Regiment. He came to New Zealand with his parents when only two years old, and had been a resident of Auckland for 54 years. Tha late Mr. McKeown commenced business aj a baker in Hobson Street in 1870, and seven years later removed to Queen Street. Ho was a member of the Masonic, Foresters, and Oddfellow Orders. He u survived by a widow, six sons, ard ona daughter. The sons are all engaged in the business founded by their late father. The funeral, which took place at the Purewa cemetery yesterday, was of i private nature. *
