A French communique states: We crossed the Canal Du Nord between Breuil and Neslc. North of the Aisne we have made progress near Juvigny, capturing Terny-Sorny, 5$ miles north of Soissons and Leuilly, 2$ miles further north. Australian and N.Z. and Renter. LONDON, Sept. 2. A French communique states: There is artillery activity in the rogion of the Somme and the Canal Du Nord. We gained a footing in the woods west of Conchy 1c Chateau, nine miles north of Soissons, and captured Crecy au Mont, seven miles north of Soissons. Our daylight bombers, flying at low altitude, dropped 23 bombs on enemy concentrations and convoys. Our aviators also used several tens of thousands of cartridges against the Germans. A later communique states: In the region of the Canal du Nord, north of Noyon, thero is violent artillery firing. We repulsed two counter-attacks against the village of Campagne. In the region of Ailette we made fresh progress in tho wood west of Couey le Chateau and east of Pont St. Mard.
