Mr. J. H. Richardson, Government In'. eurancs Commissioner, arrived in Aucklaud yesterday, and is at the Star Hotel" Mr. Justice Stringer will arrive rom tho South this miming, and will sit today at the Supreme Court to hear a civil action. Mr. R. E. Hayes, superintendent of the National Provident and Friendly Societies' Department, was a passenger for the South last evening. Mr. A. J. Richmond has teen appointed troasuror of tho Ancient Order of Foresters for Auckland district, in succession to Mr. A. E. Hughes, who will leave for camp shortly, Mr. A. R. Jordan, chief clerk at the Auckland branch of tho Public Trust Office, has been promoted to the position of assistant local Deputy-Public Trustee, at Auckland. Mr. Jordan, who joined the local branch of the Department as a cadet 15 years ago, after eight voars' mvice was promoted chief clerk 'at Christchurch, and three years ago was transferred back to Auckland. Mr. Jordan was drawn in a recent ballot and classified I C2.
