' The '.ship., Racehorse, 'in command of , Captain" 1 - Seward, arrived in port at day-v-vm break yesterday, morning. Tho Race|3|C' horse 'left Gravesend on February 11, and 'on tho'l9th of tho same month encoun- % tered a heavy gate with high seas, causing !■>■ the vessel to strain heavily and ship large ~h : . quantities of . water. During this gale i mcny of the live stock were washed overf ' board. Again, on June 16 a heavy gale '■ was experienced, with a dangerous sea, the ship .-being then under close-rcofod canvas. A very heavy sea struck the ship, throwing her instantly on her beamenas, when : the maintopmast went by the board. '. Four hands were on tho foretopgallant., .yard at the time, and only managed to leave-it an instant before it followed the maintopmast. During the attempt to -secure some of -the wreck 1 eight men of- the ship's company wero disabled,>'4tld consequently the vessel was extremely short-handed.
