FROZEN MEAT TPADE.
FARMERS' UNION PROPOSALS, CONTROL OF SHIPPING. Recommendations for dealing comprehensively with the frozen meat trade and shipping of (he Dominion are contained in remits from various provincial centres to the Dominion Conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, which opens at Wellington on July 30. Remits from Auckland, in addition to urging that ; legislation should be enacted by Paring ment during the coming session in order to give effect to the recommendations o£ the Parliamentary Committee's report on the subject, record appreciation of the decision of the Imperial Government to,, discontinue the system of nomination for the surplus New Zealand meat as the system creates a monopoly, and mainly benefits such firms as work in conjunction with the meat trusts. A protest is made against the personnel of the Advisory Committee appointed to deal with the disposal of meat and it is suggested that an individual or committee in no way associated with the buying or selling of meat should be immediately appointed to con- : trol the disposal of any surplus meat in England. Payment for meat on the hooks by the Imperial authorities is suggested H3 a means to prevent meat buyers handling as much Dominion meat as they do at present through their nominated agenta in England.
