CONDITIONS OF PROBATION.
REMAND FOR ALLEGED BREACH.
Chajwed with a breach of the terms of his probation, Charles Henry Glover appeared on Saturday, at the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Cooper. The charge was laid at the instance of the Rev. F. R. Jeffrey.', first offenders' probation officer, who deposed that Glover was placed under his care early in February. Ho had been convicted on a charge of fraud, and was ordered to make restitution of £25, with £3 12s costs, and placed on probation for three years. On other charges heard by Mr. Cutter), S.M., he had been placed on concurrent probation and ordered to pay £11,55. Altogether accused j had at iiregular intervals paid him, as probation officer, £8, and by next Tuesday would bo £8 in arrears." He had deliberately trifled with the leniency extended to him, and had failed to report regularly as directed. Glover pleaded that he had suffered from ill health, and had lost heart through inability to obtain regular employment. His Honor said that as accused had been sentenced by Mr. Justice Stringer, and was not a first offender, he would be remanded to appear : before Mr. Justice Stringer in August. Bail would bo allowed in Glover's own recognisances of £100, and one surety of the same amount. He must also report regularly, and keep away from liquor.
