The Secretary of State for Home Affairs, Sir George Cave, stated in the House of' Commons that 6000 Germans, 55C0 Aus-. trians, and 1100 Turks and Bulgarians had i not been interned. Of these 4000 belonged j to friendly races, and were only technically j of enemy nationality; 3000 were aged and invalids. The Germans included 5500 men •who were married to British wives, and 2600 had sons with the British Forces.
