PATRIOTIC CARNIVAL.

A patriotic carnival on a large scale will be held on the Ellersiie racecourse tomorrow, the proceeds from which will be divided between the Red Cross, Y.M.C.A., and the funds of the Women's Patriotic League. Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and the Countess of Liverpool have extended their distinguished patronage to the carnival. The GovernorGeneral will not be able to be present owing to urgent matters, but the Countess of Liverpool may attend. There will be many athletic events. Football teams will participate in relay races, and long-dis-tance races and sprints will be a feature of the programme. There will be sideshows in abundance, and afternoon tea will be dispensed. Professional jockeys will ride donkeys in a sensational "Desert Gold "-" Biplane" race. Children under the age of 12 years will be admitted to the grounds free of charge.
