GOVERNOR AND LABOUR.

A SYDNEY INCIDENT. The Lord Mayor of Sydney recently forwarded a communication to Mr. 'P. C. Evans, secretary of the Australian Labour Party, inviting hrni to meet the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Walter Davidson, at a gathering of unionists on the evening of May 1. Mr. Evans has written the Lord Mayor as follows:"Mr. P. C. Evans presents his compliments to the Lord Mayor, and though appreciating his courtesy is constrained to direct his attention to that plank of Labour's platform which provides for the abolition of State Governors. Whilst attendance of Labour at a send-off function might be permissible, to , attend a welcome would, if not derogatory, be at the least gravely inconsistent.".
