MUSICAL and DRAMATIC
A comedy of many surprises is "Cheating Cheaters," which is to be staged at Melbourne Theatre Royal by Miss Kathlene MacDonell. It is described as exciting and amusing, with an unusual plot. Miss MacDonell will be seen as Nan Carey, alias Ruth Brockton, a character quite different from anything in which she has hitherto been seen in Australia.
Miss Celia Ghiloni, after playing for over a-quarter of a century under the J. C. Williamson management, has gone into vaudeville, having joined the Hugh Mcintosh circuits.
It is likely that the Fuller firm will send "The Bunvip" pantomime to New Zealand at the close of the current Brisbane season. It is understood that throughout New Zealand the pantomime will be played in the firms' vaudeville houses, the company, after the run of the piece, playing the " Stiffy and Mo" series of revues.
Lieutenant John Philip Sousa. who, long before he visited Australia with his band, directed the U.S.A. Marine Band at Washington, recently conducted the combined bands of the Atlantic fleet at the New York Hippdrome for the benefit of the army and navy. They played his new march, " The Volunteers," dedicated to the U.S. shipbuilders, in which sirens, anvils, and air riveters were used. " Anything in the world," he remarked, "to put more ships on the seas flying the Starspangled Banner."
Bayard Yeille.r is said to have written the mystery-drama, " The Thirteenth Chair," after attending a spiritualistic
