LOCAL AND ARTILLERY ACTIONS ON FLANDERS FRONT.
BRITISH LINE IMPROVED IN THE SOMME AREA. FRENCH SECURE PRISONERS IN FIGHTING AT LOCRE. By Telegraph Association—Copyright. Australian and X.Z. and Router. (Reed. 11.40 p.m.). LONDON. May 5. Sir Douglas Haig reports : The French took a number of prisoners during local flight fighting in the neighbourhood of Locre, north-east! of Bailleul, to-day. There has been artillery activity and local encounters at different points. An earlier report states : We improved our line in the neighbourhood of Sadly le Sec, on the north bank of the Somme, and east of Hebucerne, to the north of Albert. We repulsed an attack on our new positions north-east of Hinges, in the Lys sector. Our line is intact. We successfully raided the Nieppe Forest sector. The artillery on both sides is active on the Lys battlefront.
