ARRESTS ON S"T AMER. A member of the I.WW., A-hose nome to in Sydney. wa- rwei '.!y arreted on twri an American mail steamer which wa.- about to leave San Francisco for Sydney. The American police and secret >erv,re men had an idea that members of tl.it society would attempt to get away from America in consequence of wholesale arrests during a recent round-up of th''.;e organisations. As a member of the I W.W. life war not worth living in the United States after the round-op, and emigration to other countries, Australia for preference, was known to be an avenue of escape, use of which was contemplated by those LW.W. men who had not been arrested. The man who was apprehended on the American mail steamer had with his baggage a quantity of I.W.W. propaganda believed to be intended for circulation in Australia. Ha also had a plan of the meeting-place of the society in Honolulu, part ol which contained detailed instructions showing how to find the hidden room used by the organisation. A man, who stated that ho was % Socialist, was also put ashore from the same vessel.
