PARLIAMENT.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. THE SESSION CLOSED. [by telegraph.—press association-.] WELLINGTON. Monday. Tire House of Representatives met at 11 a.m., and after formal business received a message from the Legislative Council regarding the latter's amendment to the Finance Bill. This was discussed until the middle of the afternoon, when the Bill was disposed of. A number of Ministerial statements were made to the House, which adjourned at 5.30 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Electric Power Bill was introduced and read a first time. The Napier High School Empowering and Harbour Board Bill, and the Popular Initiative and Referendum Bill were introduced and read a first time. Replying to Mr. R. W. Smith (Waimarino), who asked for a straight out errant towards the relief of the sufferers by the recent bush fires, the Prime Minister said it was a matter for Cabinet. He would be pleased to submit the request for consideration. The House rose at 9.10 p.m., and the session was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. FINANCE BILL PASSED. [SI TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION*.] WELLINGTON, Monday. The Legislative Council met at 10 a.m., and held a short tatting, and passed th« Finance Bill through its third reading. The Council met again in tns afternoon, and agreed to the amendment mads in the Finance Bill by the House of Representatives. The Bill received the Governor-General's assent. The Finance and Expiring Laws Continuance Acts was received, and the session concluded.
