LOST GERMAN COLONIES.
HOPES OF RETENTION. A. and N.Z. AMSTERDAM, April 13. The Bremen newspaper Weser Zeitung says that many Germans have abandoned hope of recovering the South Sea colonies, but their products are immensely • valuable, while their situation is such as to render them essential to Germany's world trade as coaling and wireless stations. Perhaps it is possible in the jwace negotiations to pit tho conflicting interests of Britain, Japan, and America against one another, resulting in German recovery of the. colonies.
