NURSES' RECORD OF SERVICE
SURVIVOR OF THE MARQUETTE. Several nurses were among those on board transports that arrived in Auckland yesterday. Sister Mary Grigor, A.RRS., of Scotland, who was matron in charge on tho voyage, has a noteworthy record of service. She left New Zealand on May 21, 1915, and for a time was engaged on transports and hospital ships running between Gallipoli Peninsula and Egypt. Then, after a short period on hospital duty in Egypt, she was attached to the staff, which was being transported by the Marquette on her ill-fated trip. After the mishap she was conveyed to Alexandria, and subsequently to England, where she has been attached to the staff of the Walton-on-Thames Hospital for 17 months. Sister Grigor is an Associate of the Royal Red Cross. Nurse E. Hooper, of Wakefield, Nelson, left New Zealand with the hospital ship Maheno, in 1915. and was attached to a hospital in Egypt. Subsequently she was on the staff of' the Brockenhurst Hosoitnl. Nurse E. M. Martyn, of Gordon Road, Mount Eden, has been engaged in hospital work in Egypt and England for two and a-half years. Latterly she was attached to the staff of tho Wallon-on-Thames Hospital. Miss M. Shirley, of Napier, who was in Enaland at the' outbreak of war, joined the staff of the N.Z.N.S. about a year ago. She came out on duty as masseuse, and was assisted by Miss A. Howell.
