PANIC IN PARIS SHELTER RESULTS IN 66 DEATHS.

(Received 9.30 p.m.) PARIS, Mar. 12. i-V A panic afc the entrance to a raid shelter on' the underground v. : ! railway during last night's raid resulted in 66 people being suffocated N;i or trampled to death. The other casualties now total 34 killed and ,;"", 79 injured, including six killed and seven injured at a hospital. The ; < raid began at five o'clock in the evening and ended at midnight. Sixty aeroplanes in seven squadrons crossed the French line. Though ;|. barrages of great intensity were put up, a few reached Paris, and I their bombs demolished several buildings and set fire to others. Four '~,• enemy aeroplanes were brought down during the raid. One, a Gotha, fell in flames three miles from Chateau Thierry. ' Australian and N.Z. and Reuler. (Reed. 8.20 p.m.) LONDON. Mar. 12. v > A German official wireless report states: We copiously and f ? . successfully bombed Paris last night in retaliation for enemy attacks %■ .on March 9 and 10 on Stuttgart, Esslingen, Intertucrkheim and Mainz. %.
