In reply to a question in the House of Representatives whether a request had been received from the allies to send troops to Siberia, the Foreign Minister, Viscount Montono, replied in the negative, but said an - exchange of views was proceeding. Disclosures would be untimely. The leader of the Opposition favoured military action in ( Russia, but urged that the greatest precaution was necessary. The Premier, Count Terauchi, stated that no decision had yet been reached regarding the despatch of troops. The Government was dealing with a momentous situation with the utmost care. According to Tofcio advices the newspapers state that the British and French ; Ambassadors to-day. asked ; Viscount Montono, Foroign Minister, for Japanese intervention in Siberia. The* United States Ambassador announced that America raised no objection. Australian and H Z. Cabla Association. LONDON. Mar. 12. A.message states that the allied Consuls at Vladivostok have sent an ultimatum to the 'Bolsheviks demanding the protection of property and the restoration of the Government existing in Kerensky's time. It is expected that the Japanese will land and enforce the Consuls' v. demands. ./ . ; ' y ~ •-•••■' V'i'. It is reported from Tokio that negotiations are proceeding between the Japanese and Siberian Governments. The Japanese newspapers consider that the crisis has become acute.
