APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE.
PATIENTS' BENEVOLENT FUND. A l'CiiLic meeting, organised by the committee of the Auckland Hospital Patients' Benevolent Fund, was held in Brunswick Buildings last evening. Tho chairman, Mr. A, E. Eagleton, presided. Arrangements were made for the street collection to be held on March 1 for the purpose of raising £1000 for the relief of patients in straitened circumstances. The executive officers were reappointed, and the heads of the various sections were selected. It was reported that the Mount Eden and Devonport Borough Councils had granted permission' to the committee to collect .funds in their districts. Offers of assistance on March 1, including one from Messrs. J. Fuller and Sons, were accepted. The organiser, Mr. H. Q. Bauer, in his report, stated that since the last meeting donations totalling £30 had been received. Permission to use the Domain for the massed bands gathering to be held on March 3 had been granted, and the services of six bands had been obtained.
